Thursdays 6-8pm March 15-April 5 (Registration deadline: Monday before each class)
This all ages art class is a round the world exploration of crafting beautiful and functional items from readily available and sustainable materials found locally.
We believe in the power of children and adults learning side-by-side and encourage you to take this class with a special young person. With this in mind, we created special adult/ child price combinations! (Kids under 10 must participate with an adult.)
Instructor: Kayla Spaan
At its core I am motivated to make art that is full of positive intention and can be shared with the viewing public. All around me, I love to find what others discard, or abandon. I love to bring my awareness to and rejuvenate those found objects into usable aesthetic elements. I love to collaborate on projects of multi-mediums. Dancing Light and Dark. It is my belief that sustainability and art can work hand in hand to increase awareness of our environment and be a call to action and fun. The infinite universe and all its creations is my greatest inspiration. I learn from it through experience: natural law, symbols, smells, myths, and visions. I am interested in the possibilities and solutions to unresolved issues presented to us in this modern life.
Working with children has been my greatest inspiration and motivator as to why I make art and hope to inspire others to do too. Knowing that children are 'Big Souls” in little bodies, this reminds me of the power of creating from a space of a pure heart, soul and feeling. I strive to protect these spaces and help others to open to that space as well from within. So that we may all be able to listen to the calls of our hearts and others and that we may make beautiful art and pick up trash and restore as we go!
