Rocket Mass Heaters are an affordable DIY wood fired masonry stove that can change dramatically the way we live with wood heat in Alaska. By burning the wood cleaner and then storing the heat in heavy mass for more even long term release, home comfort levels can increase while fuel consumption decreases! In this three hour class we will discuss the basic theory and workings of rocket mass heaters, dry stack a core combustion unit and experience a working heater with live fire.

Class Instructor Lasse Holmes has been passionately crafting and teaching the building of rocket mass heaters as well as other natural building techniques around Alaska and the lower 48 for the past nine years. He took part in the writing of the third edition of the book on the subject and has contributed many innovations to the international online community of rocket stove enthusiasts.
